Jonathan & Ruth Cooke Ltd
Stained Glass Conservation & Restoration
This presentation aims to interest those who enjoy looking at church windows, and would like to identify their makers. By examining clues in the form of stylistic and other characteristic detail in windows by Clayton & Bell, Hardman, Wailes and others, it aims to help church visitors identify windows by some of the prolific Victorian firms whose work is to be found throughout the UK and beyond.
Ruth Cooke is half of a husband-and-wife stained glass conservation team of twenty years’ standing, whose work includes an increasing number of stained glass audits for grant and other purposes. For several years the Company Secretary to the British Society of Master Glass Painters, she has organized various conferences on conservation topics in association with the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings and the Society of Glass Technology. She has published various articles on stained glass in magazines and journals.
